Does anyone have information on what should be the maximum force needed to push or pull open a door for a population of women (age 20 to 50) ?

    Thanks

First, the door should be designed with the minimum amount of force required that would allow for opening and closing. Mital, Nicholson, and Ayoub reference 7 kg as the maximum frequent one-handed pull force for females.

In the US, the ADA requires that the limit for interior doors is 5 pounds. It is vague about exterior building doors.
